SME in the crafts sector are faced with complex challenges: digital transformation, the shortage of skilled workers and especially the need to address climate change and the energy crisis require innovative and sustainable solutions from companies. At the same time, a large number of SME in the crafts sector are confronted with the question of business succession.

Studies show that the succeeding generations have recognized the importance of sustainability and innovation for securing the future and competitiveness of SME in the crafts sector. But there is  a lack of knowledge and skills on how innovative and sustainable solutions and business models can be successfully developed and implemented.

Project objectives

The aim of the project is to provide future  entrepreneurs with pathways for innovation that offer a systematic process structure backed by suitable and proven tools and methods, enabling them to successfully achieve the sustainable transformation of existing business models of SME in the crafts sector. At the same time, the project develops recommendations for intermediary organizations, education, and policy-making to ensure that they are aware of these requirements and can incorporate them into future support services.
