ZOOOM aims to raise awareness of the importance of generating and managing intellectual property in collaborative innovation ecosystems based on three key values: Software, Hardware and Data. Open software, hardware and data are crucial for a sustainable, trustworthy and sovereign industrial ecosystem. However, a lack of expertise in aligning business models with appropriate licensing frameworks prevents the full potential of emerging technologies from being realized.
ZOOOM is based on the concept that strategic autonomy and technological sovereignty can be achieved through a sound understanding of which open licensing strategies are best suited to specific business models. This includes knowing when and to what extent it makes sense to remain open and when it is the best strategy to become proprietary. - The project aims to reach three main target groups active in innovation ecosystems: Knowledge generators, innovation support organizations and key stakeholders.
- Knowledge generators will benefit from tools for learning and supporting daily development, increase their competences in open licensing strategies for IP management, disseminate the concept and facilitate the application of IP management by identifying and proposing viable business models enabled by open licensing strategies.
- The supporting organizations will receive tools for internal training, support material to enable their clients to identify formats or services that can increase the reach of IP management concepts, and a database of cases analysed from an open licensing and business development perspective.
